Hobbit muda Frodo Baggins, diwarisi cincin misterius oleh pamannya (Bilbo Baggins) setelah diwarisi cincin itu dari pamannya, Frodo harus meninggalkan rumahnya agar cincin tersebut tidak jatuh ke tangan pencipta cincin aslinya yang jahat.
